Day Twenty Three: My Favorite Vacation

This one is fairly tough, but I think the winner has to be our honeymoon. First, we were still on cloud nine from the wedding and the newness of being married. Second it was my first time to the Cancun area, and we absolutely LOVED it. Third, I just love being at the beach - I'd rather be there than just about anywhere.

And on top of all that, our hotel was amazing. It was quiet, luxurious, and beautiful. We didn't do much while we were there - we mostly just vegged out on the beach and ate lots of delicious food.

You can read more about our honeymoon here. :)

Day Twenty-Two: My favorite city

Man, I'm such a lawyer. The minute I saw this post on Katie's blog, I immediately started analyzing the assignment. Does she mean my favorite city to live in? Or does she mean my favorite city to visit? Do I limit myself to American cities, or can I include international places?

I'm going to keep it simple and tell you about my favorite American city to visit: NEW YORK CITY!!!

I went there during my senior year in college with my roommate, Rebecca, and I absolutely loved it. There was just an energy about it that was infectious. We tried to hit every tourist spot, and we made it to the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, FAO Schwarz, Central Park (which was my FAVORITE), Tiffany, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Magnolia Bakery, Canal Street, Wall Street, and Little Italy (best Italian food of my LIFE!). We even saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway!

It was a jam-packed five days, but one of the most fun times of my life. And I learned a very, very valuable lesson: never ever wear heels while walking around NYC. Just don't do it to yourself, no matter how cute you think you look.

Here are a few pictures of our adventures!

Our bargain-shopped hotel room.

I actually asked Rebecca if this was the tree at Rockefeller Center.
And I said what about Breakfast at Tiffany's...

Central Park... if you ever go to NYC and have any fondness for magical/charming places you MUST go to Central Park. I'll never forget it.
This is a really long story, but basically Rebecca's excited that she met a cute boy, and I'm freaked out that his drunk friend wouldn't stop hitting on me.

This was us at the airport on the way home. I'm not actually sure what's happening here.

Music Monday...

I'm posting again today, but it's not for the Blog Challenge. I actually wanted to share two music-ish things with you.

First, if you haven't bought Taylor Swift's new album yet, you totally should! It's called Speak Now, and it's great. It bears little resemblance to her first two albums - it's a little darker and a lot sassier, but I love it! She's calling people out and naming names.

One song is called "Dear John," and it's apparently directed at John Mayer.

Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone.
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress cried the whole way home.
Should have known.

Another is called "Back to December," and it's about her relationship with Taylor Lautner.

Turns out freedom ain't nothin but missing you
Wishing that I had realized what I had when you were mine.
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright.
I go back to December all the time.

And my VERY favorite is called "Better than Revenge." It's supposed to be about Camilla Belle, who stole Joe Jonas away from Taylor.

She's not a saint, and she's not what you think, she's an actress, whoa.
But she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress, whoa.
Soon she's gonna find stealing other people's toys on the playground won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind, she should keep in mind there is nothing I do better than revenge.

MEOW, Taylor! Anyway, if you haven't downloaded it yet, you can get it on Amazon right now for $3.99! And to make that deal even sweeter, enter "STUDENT3" to get $3.00 off - making it $0.99!

The other thing I wanted to tell you about was Grooveshark. It's an internet radio site, kind of like Pandora. But it allows you to pick the exact songs you want to listen to, add them to your list, and make playlists! And it's totally free! I love Pandora because it totally just gets me. I build a station based upon one song or artist, and it predicts other songs it thinks I might like. I've found a lot of great music on Pandora, and it's a LIFESAVER at work. But you only get 40 hours per month for free, so when I run out of Pandora hours, I switch to Grooveshark. Check them both out if you haven't already. :)

This so epitomizes my life...

This is my side of the conversation I had with a customer service representative this morning.

Yes, my name is actually Ryan.

Yes, I'm sure.

No, I'm not lying.

Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm a "Mrs." and not a "Mr."

Why, yes, I am a woman with a man's name.

I'm glad I could make you laugh this morning.

Yes, my parents were very creative. I'll tell them you said so.

Mom and Dad, this is me deliving Abdul's message. He got a giggle today thanks to your creativity. And I got a headache. :)
