Oh, my my my...

She said, I was seven and you were nine
I looked at you like the stars that shined
In the sky, the pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
Growing up and falling in love and our mamas smiled
And rolled their eyes and said "oh, my my my..."
Take me back to the house in the backyard tree
Said you'd beat me up, you were bigger than me
You never did, you never did
Take me back when our world was one block wide
I dared you to kiss me and ran when you tried
Just two kids, you and I...
Oh, my my my my

Well, I was sixteen when suddenly
I wasn't that little girl you used to see
But your eyes still shined like pretty lights
And our daddies used to joke about the two of us
They never believed we'd really fall in love
And our mamas smiled and rolled their eyes
And said oh my my my...

Take me back to the creek beds we turned up
Two A.M. riding in your truck and all I need is you next to me
Take me back to the time we had our very first fight
The slamming of doors instead of kissing goodnight
You stayed outside till the morning light
Oh, my my my my

A few years had gone and come around
We were sitting at our favorite spot in town
And you looked at me, got down on one knee

Take me back to the time when we walked down the aisle
Our whole town came and our mamas cried
You said I do, and I did too
Take me home where we met so many years before
We'll rock our babies on that very front porch
After all this time, you and I

I'll be eighty-seven; you'll be eighty-nine
I'll still look at you like the stars that shine
In the sky, oh my my my...

Thankful Thursdays (Link up!)...

Time to count our blessings again, y'all!  I'm beginning to really like Thursdays... :)

{I'm thankful} that my haircut seems to be finally growing into something I sort of like.  The girl who cut it (understandably) took my "give me Jennifer Aniston hair" comment to mean that I wanted really thick, straight ends.  I think I'll still ask her to cut into the ends a little bit next time, but this look isn't horrible, I suppose.

{I'm thankful} that I didn't have a heart attack the other night when I sat up in the bathtub after rinsing out the conditioner in my hair and opened my eyes to see this:

(please pardon my messy bathroom.)

Creeper had just appeared out of nowhere like a ninja, and he scared the living daylights out of me.  I may or may not have uttered screamed a profanity or two in his general direction.  (It was involuntary, y'all. I try so hard to keep my exclamations cute and clean and can sometimes manage a "mother FLIP!" when my brain can make the substitution in time.  But when I'm taken by surprise, I find it almost impossible to stop myself.  Oopsie doodle.  Let's all pray that the pastor doesn't sneak up on me at church sometime...)

{I'm thankful} that God has been quietly reminding me that this eating right/exercising thing could be something so much bigger if I'd keep Him in the center of it.  Before my run on Tuesday, I wondered what my run would be like if let Him be my strength - if I could think of Him when I felt like I couldn't keep going.  And so I did.  Every time I wanted to quit, I whispered a quiet "in You, Christ" to myself.  And, surprise, surprise... it ended up being one of my best runs yet.  He is so, so good.

And last but not least, {I'm thankful} for my ninja creeper who sends me weird texts like this:

Hope you all have a lovely Thursday!

What I'm Loving Wednesday...

I'm linking up to The Vintage Apple and This Kind of Love on this lovely Wednesday morning!

{I'm loving} my Shellac manicure.

The polish has grown out a bit (and they actually left a teensy bit of space when they painted them, anyway), but that stuff hasn't budged at all! I've heard that getting too many of the Shallac manicures in a row can be damaging to your nailbeds, but I'm hoping that this first one can keep me from messing with them long enough to let them grow out a bit. :)

On that note, {I'm also loving} my Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.

It keeps my cuticles moisturized so that I'm less likely to mess with my nails.  Love.

{I'm loving} that, after the utter failure that was the last run I attempted, I had a fantastic 25-minute run last night (with just one one-minute walk break in the middle).  It's still so incredible to me that I've gone from barely being able to run for a minute at a time to cruising for fifteen minutes before it even occurred to me to take a walk break. (And even then, I only stopped because I worried that I'd run out of steam at the end.  I think I probably could have kept going and been just fine.) I swear, you guys - Couch-to-5K works!

{I'm loving} these things I've pinned recently.

And lastly, but certainly not least, {I'm loving} this guy.

... because he's a lean, mean, fish-catching machine. :)

Just some sentences...

On days like today, when I can't find anything to wear (most of my clothes are too big, and the rest are still too small), I wonder why I didn't go to medical school to become a doctor so that I could wear scrubs to work every day.  And then I remember my paralyzing fear of needles/blood/all things biological, and the world makes perfect sense again.

I've only been to two of Micah's softball games.  They won both times.  Who else thinks that I'm the common denominator here? :)

I had a dream last night that I was pregnant, and it was the best feeling.  It's an impossibility at this point, y'all, so don't get any clever ideas... (ahem, family).

I'm insanely excited that my sweet sister-in-law, Faith, finally started a blog, which you can check out here! If you don't know, this is the sister-in-law who was one of my very best friends growing up, who ended up falling in love with my brother, marrying him, and making the most perfect little girl the world has ever seen.  I swear I'm not biased.  Check it.

I told you so.  Anyway, Faith is gorgeous, brilliant, funny, and one of the most altogether lovely people I've ever known.  She and my brother are about to do some fun, exciting things in their lives, and I'm excited to see her blog about all of it!

In other news, there is a teensy tiny chance that I'll get to go to London for work here in the next month or so.  Most likely I won't, but since I've wanted to go to England my entire life, I can't quite give up hope yet.  Whether or not my undying love for all things British stems from Harry Potter is subject to debate...

... but my guess is that it does. :)

Alright, y'all... time to get with it.  Hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday!

Here, fishy fishy...

My husband loves to fish.  Like loves to fish.

When we first started dating, we spent a lot of time fishing in ponds because I wanted to show him what a cool girl I was.  And I also just loved seeing him so happy and in his element.

(I think we had maybe been together for two or three years? I was so darned proud of this fish...)

But as the years have gone by (almost TEN - holy cow!), I've basically stopped going with him.  I've told myself it's because it's the way he and his dad spend time together, and I didn't want to ruin that.  But mostly, y'all?  I just didn't want to go. :)

So I'm making more of an effort to share this thing with him.  Because I can't even tell you how happy it makes him when I tag along.

So this weekend, we went out on the lake TWICE!  And it feels like God was trying to reward me for being such a dutiful, little wife, because they caught the biggest fish (and that's the plural fish) I've ever seen.

(Micah's dad - holy cow, I just adore this man!)

And maybe I did do a whole lot of this...

(Oh, Kindle, how I heart thee...)

And I captured a lot of pictures like this...

But I also reeled in a couple, myself (I've still got it, apparently), and I think I made a very good fishing assistant (even if I did backlash the line a time or two... oops).

So here's to me spending a little more time out on the water with the one I love.  Because, really, who couldn't use a few more moments like these? :)

Project Scripture: Week Thirteen

I'm so sorry I didn't get this week's verse up yesterday, y'all!  We were out on the lake last night doing a little catfishin' (post coming soon), and it totally slipped my mind when we got home.

I hope you guys are loving these verses as much as I am.  Last week's verse, in particular, was such a blessing to me.  It was crazy at work, and I came home every night just a little beat down.  But as I would catch a glimpse of my memory verse board as I walked through the living room, I remembered that, in Him, I could find rest.  I traded my stress for His peace, and everything felt a little more doable.

Anyway, here is this week's verse.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:19.

Happy Monday, y'all!

Do and don't...

So about this...

I'm not going to spoil it for you, I promise.

I'm just going to say this...

Go see it.  Go see it NOW.

(And if you can, try not to trip on a curb on your way back to your car, busting your butt in the middle of the sidewalk, and giving your friends a reason to laugh at you for an unreasonble amount of time.)

That is all.

Thankful Thursdays...

Thanks to everyone who linked up for Thankful Thursday last week!  I had a blasty-blast getting to know so many new ladies and making note of the things for which I should be thankful.

So let's do it again, shall we?

First and foremost, {I'm thankful} that I get to go see the Hunger Games tomorrow!

In the span of about a week, I re-read all three books, and I am more than pumped to see it all play out on the silver screen.  And the reviews seem to be pretty darned good, so apparently it doesn't suck.  Which is always a bonus. :)

{I'm thankful} that I was able to squeeze a run in last night, even if I did get a cramp halfway through and end up having to walk the rest of the way.  Between getting sick and being a busy little bee for the past two weeks, I've only gotten in two runs per week, and that's just not acceptable.  April 14th will be here in less than a month - eek!

{I'm thankful} that we finally took the plunge and enlisted the assistance of a financial planner.  Despite the fact that I started sobbing uncontrollably in the middle of Starbucks when he started asking us about our life insurance needs and what debts we'd need paid off if Micah died (oh yeah, it happened - Micah can never claim that I don't love him a ridiculous amount :)), he's sticking with us, and we're committed to the plan he's come up with to keep us on track financially.  It feels so good to have a plan and be purposefully saving/investing/etc. rather than haphazardly spending.  (Plus, his voice sounds exactly like Matthew McConaughey, which is distractingly awesome).

{I'm thankful} for this week's Project Scripture verse. Matthew 11:28 has been one of my favorites for years, and keeping it in my mind this week has really reminded me how restful it can be to give it all to Him. Because, let's face it... when I keep my problems to myself, I just make a colossal mess of them. :)

{I'm thankful} my BFF made me download the Draw Something app.  It's ridiculously addicting.  I won't even tell you how many games we played yesterday... while I was at work.

How good is my eskimo? ;)

And lastly, {I'm thankful} for this guy.

Because even with his face covered, he's still the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. :)

What are y'all thankful for this week? Link up and tell us! :)

What I haven't done lately...

... is dump some of my pins here so that I don't forget about them.  So here we go.  (And for your (and my) convenience, I'm sorting them by board.  Is that too OCD of me?)

(And also, don't forget about tomorrow's Thankful Thursday link-up! I can't wait to see what you all are thankful for this week! :))

Whew! I definitely need to do this more often, y'all. :)

(If you're a Pin-a-holic like me, please share the link to your pins in a comment so I can shamelessly pilfer your creativity. :))
