A Stitch Fix Review: July 2015

A good, but not great, month with StitchFix. My stylist nailed it fairly well on style (three items were on my Pinterest board!) but the details were just slightly off. But I did find one keeper. Scroll on down to see what it was!

Gilli Sina V-Neck Printed Maxi Dress ($74)

I had pinned this dress because it looked fabulous on someone else. But on me? The fabric looked strange, and my, ahem, bosom was abundant. Not a good look.

Brixon Ivy Ronan Maxi Dress ($78)

I also pinned this one and LOOOOOOOOVED it. Like, wanted to marry it. The coral color is perfection, and the waistline is so flattering. But it seems to run a bit small and was a smidge too tight on my tummy and derriere. Begrudgingly, I sent it back.

Zad Elvira Natural Stone Pendant Necklace ($34)

I wanted to love this but didn't. The color of the stone was very blah to me, and the gold chain and setting looked pretty cheap. I do want a natural stone necklace of some sort, but this wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Skies Are Blue Kaia Crochet Trip Top ($54)

I feel like we've talked about the fact that cap sleeves usually aren't my favorite. I haven't said this to my stylist, though, because she sent a cap sleeve top once that I really loved. This one was fine (and apparently I pinned this one, too!), but the problem is that I would likely wear this to work, so the sleeves would make a regular bra impossible. And there's no way I'm suffering through a strapless bra all day. Sent this one back, also.

Papermoon Toland Kimono ($48)

The fabric, the crochet detail on the back, and the roomy fit of this kimono made it a winner for me. I do so much black, so the navy and cream were a nice change. I've worn this a couple of times now and have gotten compliments each time. Fabulous with a lacy, cream tank and skinny jeans.

I'm definitely still loving StitchFix. Even when I only keep one item, I find the "investment" totally worth it, and my closet is full of things I probably would never have picked out for myself. Give it a try for a month or two and see what you think. I bet you'll be hooked.

A Stitch Fix Review: June 2015

Y'all, my Stitch Fix stylist killed it this month. After last month's misses, I went back and edited my style profile, added some new stuff to my Pinterest board, and left a detailed note for my stylist with some general pointers and preferences. And she totally listened. I kept everything!

Crescent Sage Dress ($74) 

This dress is perfect for summer. The fit is flattering if you've got curves, the crochet detail is gorgeous, and the print is fun and trendy. It's a teensy bit short for my taste, but I feel like adding the jean jacket gave me the ability to go a bit shorter without feeling like I was showing everyone all my goodies. Totally kept it.

Papermoon Bankside Split Neck Tunic ($64) 

This tunic is so me. Like, if I saw this in a store, I'd make a beeline to it. Fit = perfect. Style = perfect. White for summer = perfect. Kept it.

Daniel Rainn Hydie Floral Print Crochet Detail Blouse ($68)

This shirt is also so very perfect, and I totally kept it. I love the floral print, the crochet sleeves, and the flowy fit. It's long enough for skinny jeans, and it'll look great layered underneath my favorite lightweight cardigan for work.

Papermoon Upland Embroidered Tunic ($54)

I kept this one, too. You can see that it's a bit sheer, so I'll probably wear a nude cami underneath. But the length is great for skinny jeans, and the color is fabulous for summer. I'm also majorly obsessed with the high neckline, which you can't really see in this awkward mirror selfie, but trust me. It's great.

Bancroft Alize Hammered Oval Bracelet Set ($28)

These little bracelets are so dainty and classic! And I love that I got both silver and gold versions. Kept these, as well.

Have you tried Stitch Fix yet? It's seriously my favorite indulgence each month. The surprise of the box is a blast, and I'm honestly just way too busy to spend my time searching for fashionable clothing. I like being able to keep my wardrobe updated and current without having to step foot in a dressing room. Plus, I have so much fun playing dress up with this little photo bomber.

A Stitch Fix Review...

This month's Stitch Fix was full of several almosts: things I liked in theory but that didn't quite work when I put them on. So spoiler alert: I sent it all back.

Loveapella Abella Maxi Dress ($78)

I wanted to love this dress, but I couldn't. I think maxi dresses really have to be a certain material/cut for them to work on my body type. I liked this print, but when I put it on, I just wasn't in love.

Kut from the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean ($78)

I probably should have put these on for you guys so you could see how they fit. But I clearly didn't. 

They're boyfriend jeans, and they fit just fine. I also liked the dark color and the distressed detail. But the bottoms flared out in a strange way and just made the jeans look odd on me.

Skies Are Blue Alexa Embroidery Detailed Tank ($48) 

I wanted to love this shirt because it's totally my style. But the top sits across my chest in a weird way, and it isn't long enough for my taste.

Pixley Florence Colorblocked Dress ($68)

I can see myself having liked this for work... if I had been able to try it on. The Stitch Fix tag said "XL," but the actual dress was a medium. I was super bummed that I couldn't test it out, and apparently they don't have any more, but Stitch Fix's customer service was incredible, and they refunded my $20 styling fee.

41Hawthorn Carla Crochet Detail Blouse ($58)

The color and style of this top were perfect. And it fit just fine. But again... it was just too short for my taste.

This is the first time I haven't found something I loved in my Fix. And since I haven't kept as much from my last few Fixes as I had been keeping previously, I went back through my style profile and created a Stitch Fix-specific Pinterest board. I'm hoping my stylist will take a peek at my board and get a better idea what I'm looking for each month.

Fashion Friday: A Stitchfix Review

April's StitchFix brought a few things I loved and a few things I didn't. Let's talk about it.

Bay to Baubles Celina Triple Layer Chevron and Bar Necklace ($28)

I kept this necklace because I've been dying for a layered necklace, and gold is my jam. Chevron is not my jam, but this looked less chevron and more arrow to me, so I went for it. (Also, can you see how much the red has faded out of my hair? Boo.)

Collective Concepts Esten Button Up Sleeveless Blouse ($54) 

The shape of this was off. As was the price.

Papermoon Briar Maxi Dress ($78) 

When I began to pull this dress out of the box, I literally gasped I loved it so much. The fabric is to die for, both in terms of the print and the feel. SO soft. But when I put it on, there was something about the waistline that didn't flatter. I could have possibly fixed that with a belt, but I didn't feel like messing with it, so I sent it back. Tearfully.

BRIXON IVY Jarred Lace Detail Cap-Sleeve Blouse ($68) 

I almost kept this shirt. For the same reasons as I almost kept the lace detail shirt from last month. I'm obsessed with lace. And though cap sleeves usually don't work on me, this shirt was really flattering, and the color is gorgeous. But I just WOULD NOT spend nearly $70 on a shirt like this. I will splurge on certain things, like dresses and tunic-ish tops, but this will end up under a cardigan for work. Not justifiable.

Pixley Colibri Bird Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse (48)

This was too fun not to keep. I've got tons of tab-sleeve tops from prior fixes, but I couldn't resist the whimsical bird print and the colors of this one. I want to find some fun pink skinnies to put with this top. Maybe I could pull that look off?

StitchFix Review...

I missed a couple of months, I know. But I'm back—better late than never—with another StitchFix review for you guys.

This month contained a relatively fun haul. I probably would have kept more if I hadn't gone shopping at one of my favorite little, local shops the day before I received my fix.

Kensie Rebekah Contrast Detail Blazer ($88)

So I've seen a look on Pinterest that I loved which featured a cream-colored blazer, skinnies, cute heels, and a fun ponytail. I wish I could pull it off, but when I put this blazer on, it just looked like I threw on a suit jacket with jeans. Not a good look for me. This is going back.

Pixley Ivy Petal Print Blouse ($58)

I seriously considered keeping this. It's polyester, as are a lot of StitchFix tops, and I feel like it would have been fun with some white jeans for spring. But it just wasn't a $60 shirt to me.

BRIXON IVY Sharron Pleated Maxi Skirt ($78)

(This picture is crappy because I snapped it in my closet this morning when I remembered that I had forgotten to get a picture for this post. Because I'm totally keeping it, so it was hanging in my closet and not with the rest of the stuff I'm sending back.)

I'm obsessed with this skirt. Like this other maxi skirt I bought, this one is high-waisted and pleated. But it's teal! I wore it with a short-sleeved black t-shirt and a fun (StitchFix) statement necklace to a baby shower last weekend.

Market and Spruce Memphis Overlay Knit Shirt ($58)

Man, y'all, I wanted to keep this. Like bad. The lace detail is just gorgeous, and the color was perfect on my super pale skin. But, like I said, I had just gone shopping, and I already own a couple of lace overlay shirts that were significantly cheaper, so I couldn't justify the splurge. 

Laila Jayde Bowie Solid Dolman Sleeve Top ($58)

Honestly, this shirt was a complete miss for me. The shape of it was a little awkward, and it's something I feel like I'd find at Marshall's or Ross. Except that it was $60! The price point on this shirt is so completely off the mark that I got irrationally angry at StitchFix for sending it to me. Ha.

So there you have it. I was 1 for 5 this month, just like last month. Still super fun and completely worth doing, in my opinion. If you're curious, go check StitchFix out. They even offer maternity and petite sizes now! Still waiting on those plus sizes, though...

Stitchfix Review

Time for another StitchFix* review, friends! (For a rundown on StitchFix and how it works, see this post.)

My stylist was ON POINT this month.

First, she sent this gorgeous wine-colored sleeveless top. (Did you guys know that Pantone's Color of the Year is Marsala? I think it's just so, so pretty.)

(Sorry, you guys. My mirror is filthy and I didn't even notice until I uploaded these pictures.)

I paired it with this black, lapel-less blazer they sent a couple of months back and wore it with black skinny slacks to court last week. So I'm obviously keeping it. It drapes in a really pretty, flattering way, and the cowl neck is fun, too.

Y'all. If I could marry this shirt, I totally would. It's black with 3/4-length sleeves and has the most fabulous brass, studded detail. And it's long enough to cover my derriere, which is always a plus. Definitely keeping this.

I'm also keeping this sweater. So cozy, decent length, and a flirty fit.

Unfortunately, they sent me this chevron shirt in an extra-small. Ha. I'm tempted to point out their error to them, but in all honesty, I probably wouldn't have kept it anyway. I'm not in love with the fabric, and it's sheer, which can be annoying.

The jeans were fine, just a little snug, but at $80, I'd rather them fit perfectly. So they're going back.

I'm still loving the fun and convenience of StitchFix. I'm also loving doing these posts for you guys. How do you guys feel about them? Fun? Annoying? Meh?
