Fun Fact Friday...

 I kind of have a thing for grammar and punctuation. It's not that I'm always perfect (I'm definitely not), but when I do catch myself making mistakes it drives me sort of insane. And one of my biggest pet peeves is incorrect usage of punctuation with quotation marks. Just in case you're curious, here are the rules.

You always place commas and periods inside the quotation mark, even if whatever you're quoting didn't originally have a period or comma.

Correct: "My husband, Micah, is the most handsome man on the planet," she said.

Incorrect: "My husband, Micah, is the most handsome man on the planet", she said.

For other terminal punctuation marks, place them inside the quotation mark only if they're part of the original material.

Correct: "Where," she asked, "is the beef?"

Incorrect: "Where," she asked, "is the beef"?

Correct: Who first said "living is loving"?

Incorrect: "Who first said "living is loving?"

Clear as mud?

Thankful Thursdays...

It's November, y'all! I love November because it always puts me in a spirit of thankfulness. I love the weather, I love the food (which won't be so much fun this year on a diet, but oh well), and I love being reminded to count my blessings. Last year I listed something I was thankful for every day on Facebook, but I decided this year to blog my thankfuls. I've added a linky tool at the bottom so that any of you who want to link up with your thankful posts (or any Thanksgiving-related post) can join in on the fun. So here goes...

1. I'm thankful for grace. Marvelous grace.

2. I'm thankful for a handsome, loving husband who makes me laugh every single day.

3. I'm thankful for my crazy, wonderful family. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

4. I'm thankful for a job that I love. It's challenging and rewarding and frustrating, and I feel like I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

5. I'm thankful to be home. After living four-and-a-half hours from home for three years, I can't even tell you how great it feels to be near the people that I love.

6. I'm thankful for great friends that keep me sane.

7. I'm thankful to live in this great country. It isn't perfect, but there's nowhere I'd rather be.

8. I'm thankful for those that sacrifice their time, efforts, and even their lives to keep this country safe and free. God bless the troops!

9. I'm thankful for a lovely home and pray that I never take for granted the feeling of having a roof over my head. So many don't have that.

10. Last, but not least, I'm thankful for Pottery Barn. Can I get an amen?! ;)

My Music Wednesday

I feel certain that most of you have probably already seen this, but it's so incredibly beautiful/moving that I thought I'd post it anyway.  It's a live duet of Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill singing How Great Thou Art, and it's just gorgeous.  Hope y'all enjoy!

Master Bath... finally!

Well I finally put the finishing touches on the master bath.  It's still not 100% finished (still looking for something for the walls), but I figured I'd share anyway. :)

This is my side.  You're probably laughing at how long it took me to do so little in here, but I'm ridiculously picky about accessories, and I have a hard time setting it all up.

I found the apothecary jars at Hobby Lobby for 50% off, and I actually found the sponges at Pottery Barn.  I really wanted real sponges, so it took awhile to find the right ones. 

This is my Goat Milk Stuff soap that I bought awhile back.  Micah really likes it and has been sneaking some from the jar, so I'll probably be ordering some more sometime soon. :)

This window ledge was the hardest part.  I've had the waschloths rolled up next to the bath salts for awhile now, but I just found the candle holder a few weeks ago.  When I bought it, it was dark brown, so I spraypainted it white.  And I knew I wanted something to function as a bookend on the right so I could keep the books that I'm reading near the tub (my favorite reading spot).  I found the lantern recently at Hobby Lobby and thought it was the perfect size, color, and style.

So that's it.  Finally!  Like I said, I do want to find something for the wall on my side, and I've got to replace the yellow candles in the mason jars with white or green ones, but I really do love the fact that it's light and bright and reminds me of the sea with the blues and greens without being in your face beachy.  Here's hoping I can get some more rooms finished soon!
